Local Climate Action Plan

The Local Climate Action Plan is a strategic planning tool tailored to local governments that enables the optimization of technical and financial resources, both internal and external, to facilitate the transition to a green and resilient city.

APAC’s main alliances have provided guidance to over 300 cities in Latin
America in the development of their Local Climate Action Plans. Currently,
23 towns in Argentina are implementing these actions through innovative
climate financing strategies.

Local governments represent a visible and close authority to the citizens. On one hand, they have an in-depth understanding of the needs and opportunities in their territory, and on the other, they must respond urgently to climate emergencies. This makes them crucial actors in transforming challenges into concrete actions for climate change mitigation and adaptation, or, in other words, Local Climate Action Plans.

These plans seek to establish new management models based on the following principles:

  • Citizen Participation
  • Decentralization of power and decision-makingReduction of inequalities
  • Efficient use of resources
  • Commitment to international agreements with local impacts

Carbon Footprint

The ALPA Carbon Footprint Seal is a service offered by the Argentinian Network of Municipalities against Climate Change (RAMCC), supporting companies and organizations in their transition towards carbon neutrality by the year 2050.
Having the ALPA Seal means joining a community of organizations that lead the fight against climate change through concrete actions, recognizing and valuing their corporate commitment.

Green Employment

Currently, there is a global trend towards the development of a low-carbon economy and resilient societies in the face of climate change. That’s why APAC offers guidance in the creation of programs related to the generation of green entrepreneurs and green jobs.

Local green employment preserves the environment through sustainable
production models while strengthening local and regional economies and
providing respectable jobs and social inclusion.

These types of jobs can be created anywhere, regardless of their level of economic development. They can be established in both urban and rural areas, in all sectors, and across various industrial activities and types of businesses.

In particular, green jobs increase the efficiency in the use of energy, water, and raw materials, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste generation. They also help protect ecosystems. In this way, they are directly linked to strategies and policies for decarbonizing the economy and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

APAC collaborates with public and private institutions in a process aimed at designing public policies, training programs, and incentives for the development of green economies and green jobs.
